J1 to H1B

I am Japanese. I have J1 visa. the date of expires is the end of March. I am going to apply for H1B.

I would like to saty April to at least September in here except for to get H1B visa in Japan.

My new sponser told me, If I will stay such a long time in here before to get H1B visa, It will be problems when I go to interview to get H1B in the American embassy in Japan. Then I can not get it.

Could you tell me any idea?

you cannot be out of status at the moment of your application for H1B change of status. Ask your question in the H1B subforum here.

if you are going to get H1B at the consulate instead, you should leave after your J-1 program ends.

Is that your visa or status that expires in March?
 
yes. The date of expire is the end of March.....

I didn't ask WHEN it expires. I asked whether your VISA in your passport or your STATUS in DS-2019 will be expiring in March.
 
I am not asking WHEN. I am asking WHAT is expiring: your VISA in your passport or your STATUS in DS-2019. If you don't know the difference, you'd better find out soon.
