Folks,

I used to do co-op for a company in Dallas TX. I got employment verification letter from them and not the experience letter; they do not issue experience letter to past employees and only issue employment verification letter.

I need to know for I-140, is the experience letter from previous employer necessary or is it for Labor only. My Labor recently got approved.

Thanks.

It appears to be necessary. I have seen at least one case for a friend whose employment records could not be found as it was more than 6 yrs ago. The solution was to provide W-2s instead. If using a lawyer you might want to try and see how to do it through this route. Alternatively if it was co-op, you might be able to convince the college folks to write a letter confirming the co-op.

You shouldnt need experience letters if you submit a copy of the supporting documents you used to file with your laber cert, (educational documents) as well as all W-2s for current company and your recent paychecks.

*edit sorry I just realized this post is very old.
