Indian Passport expiring soon... Planning to apply N400

Hello All,

My Indian passport is going to expire in the beginning of Dec, 2015. I am planning to apply for N400.
I am little bit confused, if I should renew my Indian passport before applying N400.
If any one from this forum are/were in the same situation as mine, could you please, let me know your advise.
I will be sending my N400 application to "USCIS Phoenix Lockbox Facility" and it is not clear how long it is going to take to process the application at this center.

The two are not related. You should have a valid passport if you are going to travel abroad; but otherwise a passport is not strictly necessary.
 
I recommend renewing your Indian passport, though, as the consulate/embassy/visa outsourcing services will likely cause trouble when you apply for the renunciation certificate and visa/OCI.
