Here on visitation visa, found out i have cancer

I hope this is the right place to post. I'm in the US on a 6 month tourist visa, but I found out I have cancer. I am a Syrian refugee staying in Kuwait before coming here on the visa. I will not be able to get adequate treatment for the cancer in Kuwait, as the medicine is rare and I am a refugee in that country.

I was thinking about an asylum application because my family is wanted by the Assad Syrian government. The other option is a medical visa maybe? I'm not sure what to do, any advice is appreciated.
