H1B Visa Application

Hi everyone! I'm a Canadian studying for a Masters in Pharmacy in England. I was wondering about the route of planning I'm supposed to take with regards to the exams and the visa applications. From my understanding, I'm supposed to graduate, then take all the FPGEE, NAPLEX etc, and then apply for a job. Once a job is obtained, then the employer will provide H1-B visa sponsorship enabling me to work in the US? is this correct?
Also, could anyone tell me any other possible hurdles that would possibly hinder my application process, and if there is anything I could do presently as a student to speed up my ability to work? Cheers!
