H1B I-797 valid, stamping expired

Hello,

My H1B is valid till April 21st, 2008 (today is March 16th, 2008). My stamping expired in September 2007. My company has applied for my extension, but it's been pending with the california center for a very long time (for more than 8 months now). I had to get back to India because my dad passed away. So, now I cannot enter US (since my stamping expired).
Question:
Since my I-797 is still valid (but only a month left), can I go for a visa stamping with my current I-797? Will there be any problem? I need an immediate answer, as I've to book an appointment with consulate as soon as possible.

Hi venkathari,

Sorry to hear about your father, it a tough situation for you.
Actually I am also sailling in a very simmillar situation in context to the visa and am looking for a advice too.

Can you pl. share your experiece as to what you did. Did you got yourself stamped for a month, any problems ?
