H1 expired - moved for good to India

Hello,

I had moved back to India once my H1 expired in 2012. However, I keep working for the same firm in US from here in India (kind of work from home). The problem is my company keeps issuing me 1099-misc for the non-employee compensation, I receive from them. I am not liable to file my taxes in US since I am an Indian citizen staying in India and I file my returns here in India for the above income.

As a result of this 1099-misc, I keep getting IRS tax letters regarding the non payment of taxes.

What is the best way to convince my company to stop issuing those 1099-misc? Shouldn't the SSN be invalid since my visa has expired?

Thanks

I am guessing that IRS *thinks* you are either a US citizen or a PR holder. Have you clarified this to them that you are neither? I am assuming that these taxes are for salary after you had left the US?
