I was laid of by my previous company while I was in H1b Visa on oct 31,2001. I got a new job offer and the company applied for my H1 b on Feb 22,2002. My H1b petition was accepted but "Extension of Stay" was rejected stating that I went "off status "( unemployed) between Nov1,2001 - Feb 2002. The I797 says that Chennai Consulate has been notified. Do I have to go back to India and apply for a new H1b visa with all the required documents? Can i use the TTS drop box in India or do i have to schedule an interview?
