DV lottery with work experience

Hello Everyone!!

How are you? I have some questions for you. I win a DV Lottery 2017, i don't meet the Education requirements but i'm qualify(?) with Work experience. I'm working for Apple Inc. in italy, from about 6 years with a regular contract and my role is Family Room Specialist(i think is 41-4012.00 - Sales Representatives) i have a lot of training up to 40 trainings with 2 certifications. i wrote an email to US Consular in Naples and they want my contract, training & certificate, letter from my manager and most recent pay slips. I have all this documents!! :) My manager endorse me to the Managers at Apple in US but can't give proof of that because is an internal procedure. what do you tinhk about? Can i do it?

Qualifying for the DV lottery via work experience is not easy. It is about preparing information to document the role you perform and how that role aligns with role at the correct level on O*Net.

You have aligned yourself with a role already, but a "Family Room Specialist" would normally be selling PCs/Phones etc to the public at an Apple store. In that case the role is retail sales, not the role you have chosen on O*Net. There is a huge difference between the two roles - and your salary and work location will be evidence of that. The retail sales position will not qualify you for DV.
 
Thanks Britsimon for the quickly response!! I know that! but the family room specialist in apple store is different from Specialist, Specialist is a sales position the FRS is much more. We sell for costumers and small and medium company and we give costumer support too. we do Fifty-Fifty :) All the training and certificate can prove that. what do you think? Can i try to doing an interview? Thanks

I'm pretty sure they will still see that as retail - and therefore refuse the case. However, it's your case - you can try if you want, you are only risking time and money.

In addition to what britsimon said - basically you need to show that what you do (as evidenced by your contract, training proof etc) is the same as the job at the correct level you have chosen (so look at the full description of that and see if you can match up most of it, and can demonstrate this to the CO).

Also don't forget the requirement that it must have been at least two years at the correct level - not simply that you have reached the correct level now (if indeed you have).

I know that but many tasks in Sales Representative is the same on my contract, and the CO maybe doesn't know what tole is it. In Italy my level is the same for sales representative here with have the same contract called "commercial contract"!! anyway thanks for all, I know it's very difficult case but in Italy i meet a guy he was a pizza maker but he take the green card. I hope!!

Ok, good luck. We see people refused for work experience more often than we would like here. It would be useful if after your interview you would come back to the forum and post the interview experience and outcome. Thanks!

this is a description from OnetOnline Sales Representative "Sell goods for wholesalers or manufacturers to businesses or groups of individuals. Work requires substantial knowledge of items sold." Apple is a manufacturer and i sell goods(apple products, service, business service, costumer service, and more) to businesses(small and big company) and groups of individuals(public in store, people on Online Market, Freelance and much more). My work requires substantial knowledge of items sold( we doing every months training or certificate for the products and procedures).

You don't need to convince us, you need to convince the CO. The onet specs are detailed and go through many more details than what you listed above. The closer you can show you match everything (and have done so for at least 2 years), the better your chances.
 
Congraaaaats, i hope for me also:(:(, as i also not success through the education due of not get the original paper from my college which i did't complete it only for one year and also lost the original certificate only photocopy, they refuse to accept it, and they are right :( even i try to get the original :mad: but as you know due of (country divided) and many wars there the university is closed.:mad::mad:
anyhow the guy in the embassy informed me maybe i will lose the money so i have to pay for me only and ignore the derivatives (for now) till the CO issue mine then i can make appointment with them to interview my family.

anyhow the CO request from me:

please provide a letter from your current and prior employer stating your job title and describing in detail your job responsibilities and the length of your employment service.
i'm preparing this but i don;t know is it should be authorized from chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs also Or only from my HR Manager and direct manager??

The CO, according to you, already told you what they need from you. Why are you stressing on about if the letter needed to be from some chamber or ministry? Get the letter from your employer!

It clearly says your employer. No one can expect a ministry to know the details of every job at every company! Focus properly on detailing the description of the job responsibilities to ensure that it is sufficient to meet the requirements of DV for work experience. I suspect that you'll only get one chance to submit this, so make sure it's detailed enough. I think britsimon's website has tips for people qualifying through work experience about this.

Thanks guys!!! I brought my managers letter, my job responsibilities, trainings, certificates, my original contracts and more evidence of my experiences. If the console has told you to send these documents, want to support your case with work experience. Sent all!!;) I'm going to NYC this may for one week and i'll move in autumn for ever!! :):)

Good, congrats, the CO didn't ask anything else, only the work details and responsibility as I mentioned above, and already yesterday I submitted it to the box office, let's pray :) I don't know is there will be another interview or what ?!after?!
