Hi friends,
Greetings from India. My JI visa appointment is on May 4. My program sponser says that I don't need TOEFL for the j1 visa (I'd be interning in the publishing field), but I'm hearing two opinions from my friends about that -
1. I have to write TOEFL because it will be good for my credentials, during the visa interview at the Consulate.
or
2. I better NOT write TOEFL, because if I attempt it, then the Consulate officer might ask, "You know you're not required to write TOEFL for J1, then why did you write it? May be you intend to stay in USA beyond your training. No way! Your visa is now rejected" and throw me out of the Consulate
Arrggghhhh! Now what do I do now? Write TOEFL or not?
For the record, I don't intend to stay beyond my training, because my fiancee lives in India and I'd be returning back for my marriage.
Any type of advice appreciated!
