CPT Question

Hi:

Can we take an internship and work on CPT only after 1 semester of school. My wife has joined grduate school in Spring 2002. She is on F-1 Visa. Now, can she take up internship somewhere during this summer? Her international students advisor is saying that she has to be a student for atleast 9 months before she can start working using the CPT. Is that a true statement and is it the same for all schools? Any response is appreciated. Thanks.

The Intl advisor could be correct

Same INS rules are applicable to all students all across US. However if you Intl. advisor cites some INS rules they should be able to give you the legal reference or a photocopy of such rule if they have done their home work well.
