Can I change J1 Visa employer?

I am currently in the United States on a J1 Visa. My employer makes me work 84 hours a week without additional payment. I want to quit my current job to look for another one
on J1 Visa. Can I do that? Is there a lawful mechanism to do J1 Visa transfer?
Thank you!

If you quit your job, you will be out of status and need to leave the country immediately.

What type of job do you have that requires 84 hours/week of work?

Thank you for reply, I am PhD molecular biologist. My supervisor is demanding to work double hours per day and also weekends to produce more and more data for his new grant application. There is no way to change this situation. I am thinking to quit and come back home, but before that I want to know if I have any possibility to stay in US and work for another employer.

Hi ALIV77

If your supervisor (employer) is making you work more then hours mention in your DS form
you can make an official complain.
and if you decided to quit the job / Training,
you may do so,
but remember to remain in lawful status, before you do so,
you can also maintain a good status, there are number of ways you can do

yes you can.
First find another employer that can take you in. (send resumes, etc)
then contact your lawyer and american sponsor to do the switch.
Your current employer would have to agree on the transfer so try to maintain good relations.
good luck
