Automatic Visa Revalidation Question

Hi,
I am travelling to Canada tomorrow. I currently have an expired F-1 visa with a Duration of stay on my I-94. I am visiting canada for leisure and am not applying for a US Visa. I wanted to know if there has been any problems for US reentry that anyone has heard of in the light of recent happenings. In principle, I should not have a problem, but I want to be sure I am aware of any potential risks involved.
My second problem is that my passport only has my first name on it, and no given family name (I use my father's name as my last name). Will this cause additional problems?
Thanks so much!

Please go to
http://www.state.gov/

and then search for Automatic visa Revalidation
you will find the results and Automatic visa Revalidation is still effective, how the BCIS border post can give "Vault "a diffrent version ?(other thread)

Better you should have the print out of the above sites to show INS/BCIS officer when you enter with I-94. If possible take a letter from lawyer that Automatic Visa is sill effective.
I spoke to a good immigration lawyer and he said automatic visa still exists
Please post here your experience here.

Good Luck!!

According to the info I have read, you would require a visa to re-enter US. As Ginnu mentioned, take the printout and see what the BCIS folks have to say at the border. If I were you I would make an appointment with the consulate just to be on the safe side, in case you are turned back.

Let us know the outcome!!

good luck.
