Are legal fees taxable? Please respond..

My company says that the legal fees they paid for me are taxable.. And the tax is deducted from my paycheck..

It never happened to me before.. Is this a new law? Is this common?

If its true, it sucks because I have to pay a third of all legal fees, and that may be substantial..

Please shed some light on this..

Can you tell me how I can claim it in tax returns? I tried to find it, but was not successful..
 
As I understand legal fees can be claimed

As I understand from my freind, the legal fees can be claimed. But I\'m not sure How? Any how if we start claiming the legal fees we may have to go for itemized deductions and that may be very much less than the standard deductions, unless we have home on our own. This is just my view unless the legal fee paid during the year is very high. I trying to get more information on this, if any gets any information how we can claim it kindly post it here.
