Lightbulb Urgent Help Needed

I have been working on my OPT card for the past one year for any employer which expires on July 11 i.e this friday. My employer has filed for my H1-B premium processing on 24th of June and waiting response from INS.

The HR department at my current company as raised questions about the leagality of my stay in this country beyond 11th July, they say that I will be illegal after 11th of July. The information I got from school Immigration office is that I have some grace period after expiration of my OPT card and also if my status adjustment application is under process.

I need to provide some sort of INS document which mentions about the grace period and what is the law governing the change of staus application ?.

I will be very greateful for any help I can receive. Any quick information would enhance my chances of keeping my job.

For OPT you have upto 90 days to find another employment. If your H1B is pending then you are in legal status. But you dont have authorization to work, so you might have to get off the payroll.
