Is it true that at green card interview (adjustment of status)they stamp your passport before you get the actual green card in the mail? Or do they give you the temporary green card in hand same day after the interview?

They just stamp your passport. That itself serves as an proof till you actually recieve the plastic card. The stamp is valid for 1 year...

Thanks, what state do you live in? Is it the same that all across the US?

It has nothing to do with the state or where u apply. There is nothing called a temporary Green Card. The STAMP is it. And it is the same across the whole US..
