H4 stamping in Chennai with H1 extension (No stamping on passport)
Any ideas?

My brother applied for H1 extension in Dec .
Previous H1 expired in mid december.Waiting for ext. approval.
Is it possible for his dependents to get the H4 stamping done
in Chennai with copy of H1 approval and copy of passport with
expired H1?
Or Do they need to get the H1 revalidated at St.Louis before
sending depenents for H4 stamping?

Yes, once the H1 extension is approved dependents can apply for H4 with the copy of new H1 approval.

There is no need to get the H1 visa revalidated.
