Re-entry permit
Hello,
Please help me with this issue: I am applying for re-entry permit; since my employer is sending me for international assingment. I want the re-entry permit to be sent to a friend's place in the US. The reason is that my travel plans are not finalized; and I will be at diferent locations. I read here that it is possible to send this over to somebody's address in the US. However, I was going over form I-131; and it is not clear how to do that. It asks for address in Part - 1; and foreign address in Part-2. Finally in Part-3 - "Processing Information" - it asks - Where do you want this travel document sent? But the choices are 1. address in part 2 above 2. American consulate at "city" and "country" 3. INS overseas office at "city" and "country" So, it seems that there is no clear way to get this in the US. Can you please verify that I am not missing something; and please tell me how would I have it sent to a US address (friend's)? Your help is much appreciated. |

Thanks ****
One more thing seems to be unclear on the form. In Part2; it asks for Foreign Address. Does this apply only to category f; ie somebody applying for Advance Parole for a person outside US OR does it apply to everybody? i.e. if I am applying for re-entry permit; do I need to specify Foreign Address? Thanks a lot for your help |

Thanks ****.
The form also asks for "Date of Intented Departure"; and "Expected Length of trip" I donot know the date of departure yet - it might be in a few weeks or a few months (all depends on how projects turn up with my employer) Also, the expected length of the trip is not clear. It might be 10 months or more than a year... (again based on project constraints) Is it better to leave these as "Unknown" OR should I put in some dates now; knowing that it will most probably change Thanks in advance for your help |
