illegal husband got arrested 2 years ago, didn't go to court, want GC, HELP!

ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED!!!
My husband is currently illegal in the US. He was arrested for $25.00 shoplifting in Georgia 2 years ago. He was released on $1000.00 cash bail bond. NEVER went to court date. I called the Assistant DA recently. He said that my husband needed to come back to GA because he has a bench warrent out on him. We don't know what to do?!?! My husband wants to take care of this problem, so that we can file for his GC....but do not trust the Asst. DA. Asst DA said he would pull the bench warrent and hold it, since my husband would come to his office. Was told that my husband would get "mail-in" probation for 6 months since we live gfar away from GA. I checked "mail-in probation", cannot find it anywhere. Possible trick? Also, is theft by shoplifting $25.00 considered a crime of moral >>>? My husband has no other arrests or ciminal record. I love my husband, he's a good person who made a big mistake, he wants to take care of the problem, so he can stay here in US legally.....any ideas? Oh- his arrest record has his name backwards, last name as first name, first name as last name...will a FP show this arrest?

Consult a good criminal defense attorney and an immigration attorney.. There can be a lot of repercussions in this problem if its not taken care of.

From what I understand stealing / theft is a crime of moral turpitude and is a deportable offense.

If you are a US Citizen, you may have options for waivers that are not available to others.

I certainly would not recommend getting in a car and driving to the DA's office in Georgia without having a good GA criminal defense attorney at your side.
