Sponsoring Parents for Green Card

Hi All,
  Have a few questions to sponsor parents for Green Card.

1. Does the sponsor need to be employer or is it enough if the spouse is employed? I.E. can a US Citizen housewife sponsor her parents?
2. Which is better - AOS or Consular Processing? How much time is AOS taking?

Regrding your first question, in case of husband and wife it is enough for the husband to be employed. Wife does not need to show employment and yet is able to sponsor her parents (you as married to hsi person may have to demonstrate that you are willing to support them (sign affidavit of support).

Regarding your second question, processing procedures depends on the location (current residential status i.e. in or outside US of dependents). However, based on my understanding and recent discussion, if parents are in the US you can file I130 and I485 at the same time and I would thus guess processing is faster this way. But who knows with INS........
