need some info/ help

Good day everyone! I am new here and I really think a lot of you can help me on my situation.

My spouse and I submitted all the forms needed for a green card. I got a notice receipt and got my biometrics. On my notice to get my biometrics, they assigned me an Alien registration number. After a few weeks, we got an RFE and have already taken care of it. On their website it said on Mar 18, 2009 they have received it. So I was waiting for my work authority card and for a notice for an interview and after 60 days still nothing.

So I went to an InfoPass office and the lady told me that they just started working on my case again last June 15, 2009 and that they assigned me a new Alien registration number. She said to call them after three weeks if I don't get anything yet.

My question is, is it possible for me to get a driver's license with the given A#? I do not have any other evidence of my legal stay here in the US since my I-20 has already expired last June 20, 2009.

It really is very hard and inconvenient with no driver's license or I.D....

Right now I am using my Philippine Passport as an I.D. but sometimes stores give me problems when buying liquor...and I also get paranoid sometimes when I travel...

Please advice. Thank you!!

Your DMV should list the exact requirements. Usually an SSN# and not an A# is needed.
