Los Angeles marriage license

hi, i got confused by the minister who told me after the ceremony that she ll sent the license to the country clerk office to register a public marriage and the only thing that i need for the immigrations purpose is the copy of license on which there is a stamp "customer copy". i doubt that this copy is enough. it has the original signature of me and husband plus the witnesses and the minister but still i was thinking it should be notaries. am i right or she is right?

The one you have is called original. I believe you can use that and make a copy as a temporary evidence. You can then go to the county office and request a certified marriage certificate if USCIS request for it otherwise, the copy of your original will also work.

Make sure you arent confusing license with certificate.

Marriage 'license' is what you apply for before you get married.
Marriage 'certificate' is what proves that the marriage actaully took place and is what is signed during/after the ceremony.

If what you have right now is your 'marriage certificate then this is what you need for immigration purposes (unless its like in Vegas where the one you receive on the day is just a souvenir certificate and not a legal one).

Its just what the chapels in Vegas issue on the day of marriage. Its just basically a keep sake/ momento of your special day, but it is in no way a real marriage certificate (even though it is signed and stamped). An official marriage certificate must be applied for from the Clarke County Clerk I think 5-7 days after the wedding.
