I-485 Portability (AC21) Change employers after 180 days. What if you are laid off before 180 days.

Can I use EAD < 180 days

Filed my 485 only few weeks back. My H1B employer may layoff and cancel h1b due to INS inquiries.(cannot afford on bench long)
I am expecting EAD in 1 or 2 months. In this tough economy it is hard to find a new H1b job.
My 140 approved long time back. Received first biometric appointment date.
What are the options available for me ?

Can I use EAD and join some new Employer permanently. ?
( convince the gc sponser not to revoke i 140 because cant use AC21 becaus 485 is less than 180 days.)

--------------------you can join new employer with h1 transfer or with valid ead in hand.h1 transfer will be best option but you need latest 2-3 pay stubs. H1 transfer petition must reach uscis before employer revoke your h1 by writing to uscis.
