AR-11 question

I do have a questions regarding AR-11 (INA §261 + §262)

Which is the address you have to file with the AR-11:

If I have a vacation home in FL but work in CA - can I put the FL address on the AR-11 ?

Assuming I'm on national travel and all my furniture is in storage. Can I put a friend's house - who is collecting all my mail - on the AR-11 ?

Assuming I'm on international travel but have a vacation home in FL, can I put the vacation home on the AR-11 and have the mail sent to a P/O box or should I put my friend's address - who is collecting my mail - on the AR-11 ?

INA §261 + §262 do not clearly say how to define an address !

Thanks !

They want your primary residential address, which would be the one in CA. Unless you're a semi-retired person who spends the majority of the time in FL and only does occasional work in CA ... which would mean your "vacation home" is really your primary home.

Well,

the problem is I will be on travel (a mix between national and international) for 4-5 months. So I don't pay rent to keep an address (that's apx 8k) just for the INS - no way !

Now I have three options: A friend's home (my preference) - safest way to get any mail, my FL vacation home or a P/O box (I don't think you can do the P/O box for AR-11 purposes). BTW, my salary still comes in CA.

As I stated previously - INA §261 + §262 do not clearly specify what your address is in such a situation - filing every time I check-in into a hotel a new Ar-11 ??? I don't think so ....

Good point - so far (2009) I've used my CA address and by the next year it will be again a CA address. I don't know which one yet, but I can safely assume by April 2010 I will have a CA address again. I will have to file in CA no matter what, since my income is in CA. But the AR-11 asks for any change within 10 days ...

BTW,
the IRS and the FTB don't care about the address (as long as you pay) and in FL it's only property tax.
