Green Card: Maximum stay:

Hi
My wife is in her native country. Due to family emergency (circumstances out of human control due to medical conditions and others), it is very difficult for her to come within 6 months, after she left USA. She is permanent resident of USA. IS it ok if she comes to USA after 6 months plus 10 to 15 days or maximum 8 months. How long she can stay out of USA without loosing her permanent resident status

She can remain outside the US for 1 year without being considered to have abandoned her permanent residence. Your wife should be prepared to provide documentation regarding her extended absence (e.g. medical letters, hospital stay, family emergency situation etc...)

"Notice to permanent or conditional residents who remain outside the United States for more than one year: If you do not obtain a Re-entry Permit and remain outside the United States for one year or more, it may be determined that you have abandoned your permanent or conditional resident status."

It would have been best had she applied for a re-entry permit before leaving. I do not think you can apply for one if you are outside the United States.
