statement of reason for J1-HRR
Hi all,
I am on F1 status (working under OPT) and my wife is currently on F2. Previously, my wife was on J1 status between March-August 2008 (with 2-year HRR rule). Now my employer wants to file H1 for me; however I cannot add a spousal application for my wife, because of the 2-year rule on her J1 visa. Since she was not sponsored with any privileges, loans or scholarships by Government of her home country or any international organization or the US government and since she hasn't been given any undertaking to return to home country, we would like to apply for a "no objection" rule based J1 waiver. We can get the no objection letter from our country with no problem. What statement of reason do you think we should write? Should we mention our marriage and my undergoing H1 application or just state the above facts and say that she would like to work as a researcher again? What are the chances to get the waiver? Any input is greatly appreciated, and many thanks in advance.
