Delay in spouse's 485/EAD approval?

Hi,

We got our fingerprints done today. I was told I might have to get them done again seeing as my ridges weren't showing up well enough. If I don't get successful prints done the 2nd time, I have to get a background certificate done which means contacting the police dept back in the city I lived in prior to living in the US.

The certificate(s) have to cover the last 5 years from what I've read. I've lived in the US for 3 years so I would have to get a police certificate for that time and the previous 2 years in Canada. I believe that my EAD would be delayed until my fingerprints or police certificate is rec'd. This is not a problem however will this cause my husband's 485/EAD approval to be delayed?

I know for the I40 everything was based on his labour certification however, are our I485s processed together? Also, we are currently on H1(him)/H4(me), if his 485/EAD were approved ahead of mine and he was moved from H1B, what would happen to me being on an H4?
