J-1 waiver question, Please help!
Hi All:
I am new to this forum. Please help! I have a question regarding J-1 visa waiver. My friend is holding a J-1 visa, but it is going to expire in 6 months. If she is filing a waiver now, what would happen if her J-1 waiver couldn't be granted before her visa expires? Can she stay in US while waiting for the waiver approval? Or she has to leave US by then and wait for the waiver outside US? many thanks for your help!!

The waiver doesn't grant any status, so no, she can't stay here without some other visa type (i.e. F works, but she has to get the visa stamp, she can't do adjustment of status).
