EAD Renewal Rejection and Timing Issue

Hi All,
My Friend's Spouse EAD got rejected recently. Her current EAD expires on 22nd September. She is also not on H-1B and has the EAD was not used until now.

We have never been out of status and my immigration records are fine.

She got a job with a lot of difficultly and she was supposed to start on 15th September. unfortunately 10 minutes after she was given a job offer her our lawyer called to say the EAD renewal was rejected. It is very frustrating. We still don't have the mail so we don't know the reason for rejection. My lawyer might be getting a letter soon.

My questions are:
1.) What could be the reason of rejection
2.) How Do I handle the Job Offer w.r.t to immigration issue?

I am thinking of joining the company on 15th and pushing my lawyer to refile the EAD next week before the expiry of my current one. With little luck it might work. Please let me know If I could face issues with this.

1-Many reasons as, incorrect fee, not signing the form or your pending I-485 is approved
2- The time is very short (almost no time) and you can not start with the receipt or expired EAD
