Travel for work
Folks - I am a PR holder and had a question about work related travel. If i had to travel out of the country each week for 1-2 nights (in a hotel) and return back home, how does that impact my residency requirements in the future? basically, i will be flying to Canada on Monday and come back Tuesday or wed each week for a couple of months. I will still be employed by my US employer throughout, and nothing from a residency perspective will change
What would be the impact? |

If you are consistently spending more time inside the US than outside, you will be OK. Just remember to accurately record all your trips so you can list them correctly when you apply for citizenship.

Since I am going to travel there for a while, i will get a canadian work permit. I will still only travel there for 2 days a week. Will that have any impact?

These trips should not affect you in any way as far as USCIS is concerned...and you don't need to file anything. Just keep a good record of all your trips, you will need the exact dates when you file for your N400

So, I have begun the travel each week (2 days a week), but noticed that the Canadian and US officials do not stamp the passport during entry/exit. Is this an issue? During citizenship process, how do they know how long I was in/out of the country?

You need to keep your own records. Do NOT rely on the border crossings to track this for you.
