do you have to ask SSA to update SSN after GC?

Hello,
Once you receive Permanent Residence (EB base) do you need to goto Social security office to update your SSN status so that it reflects your unconditional employment ability?

Or is it automatically done....once you get GC.

My SSN card for whatever reason does not have the stamp saying "Can work with DHS authorization" even though I had obtained it 8 years ago when I did not have a GC. I got my GC and am wondering now if i should go to the Social Security office and update my statust.

Motivation here is: I want to be avoid being rejected by E-verify if I seek new employment.
