SB-1 visa queries

Hi everyone,
Great forum......

A quick run-down of my situation.
- received green card 2001 through (now ended) marriage
- lived in Illinois until Sept 2007
- flew back to Australia for personal family matters
- am still "unexpectedly" here in Australia, didnt plan on staying so long
- PLANNING ON APPLYING FOR SB-1 as it will be another few months at least before returning to US
- while here in Aust, did apply for several jobs in US and also made several lengthy investigations on purchasing business (this may be able to show my intent to return?????)
- no real ties to US, when I left my last job of 7 years, didnt plan on going back to that location, so closed all accounts etc there, planning to establish all new accounts etc at new location

So now, looking at applying for SB-1, anyone with advice or experience in this area.....greatly appreciated

thanks

Jump on a plane right now and get back to the US before your one year is up, if you want to keep your green card. To get the SB-1 you will have to present some compelling reasons to show why you didn't return to the US, and also to show that you maintained ties to the US. Approval of the SB-1 is not guaranteed. You're taking a big gamble if you don't go back to the US now.

The reasons should be both emergent and beyond your control, and you need to be able to prove both points.
