Do kids have to carry green cards?

My son is in 7th grade of junior high school. He never carries his card on him to school or when he rides his bike around the block. At the same time, I remember reading that card should be with the person at all times, or he can get misdemeanor charges and/or get arrested. So he is a little delinquent not abiding by the law??? Do you guys make your kids to wear GCs on them to school? I can imagine a special neck pouch or something : )
Or maybe I'm not aware of some exception for minors? Does this law make any sense, if you think about it?

Nick

There have been multiple threads on this and everyone has their own opinion. The fact of the matter is that it clearly states that the GC must be carried at ALL times (not a copy, the actual card). So you do what you want with that...

Does your kid sound foreign (ie. speak with an accent)?

Look, any interaction with an official is going to take place only after YOU the parent has been reached, at which time you can bring the GC.

I promise to reimburse ANYONE foir any fine they get for not carrying their GC. Promise.

Under the Bush adminstration, i wouldn't count on it. What if ICE is patrolling his neighborhood while the kid is on the bike? I hear that high-school kids are a target so they can deport them before colleges get burdened with illegals. j/k

Best to keep PR card in parent's possession

Unless you are near US borders or live in a neighborhood where law enforcement team suspects of legal residency status.
