Wifes last name change
How do you change your name with the USCIS? I couldn't find any forms online.
We filed the GC application shortly after getting married and didn't want to change her last name until after the application process was complete...whole spanner in the works notion. Now since everything is done, how do we go about changing her last name. |

You do not file for a change of last name with USCIS. This needs to happen with your local township court.

Otherwise, you could wait until she applies for citizenship, and change her name as part of the naturalization process. No separate court process or extra fees required, and it would be unnecessary to change the GC.

You don't need to go to a court, to change wife's last name to match husband's last name.
Just take your marriage certificate to DMV, and they will change the name based on your marriage certificate. Take your marriage certificate to SSA office, they will change name with no problems. Fill out I-90 and send it in with required documentation and a copy of your marriage certificate. The only time you might have problems...if your marriage certificate is not in english, in that case check with your country's consulate for services they offer. |

HD is correct. That is how all US spous's change their name thru marriage: wedding ->SSA -> DMV and that is it. No time limit on when to do this.
GC-holders then only need to go to the extra step of i-90. Again, doesn't matter when marriage was.
