Traveling to Canada with Canadian visa after GC

Hi,

I recently got my GC and will be traveling to Canada on business. I also hold a Canadian visa that's still valid. I have the following questions:
  1. Does it matter if I use the Canadian visa to travel vs the GC?
  2. Since I am in the country as a GC holder does it mean that I have to use it to travel to Canada or is the Canadian visa fine?
  3. Any advantages/disadvantages of using one over the other?

Thanks.

Doesn't matter. Either can get you into the country,

The Canadian visitor visa should be fine, or the GC. It doesn't matter - you're not obligated to use the GC to gain a visa waiver.

Doesn't the visa normally allow a longer stay in Canada than using the GC (or a passport from a visa waiver country)?

Perhaps. How long does the OP want to stay there?

Just remember that you need your GC to come back to the U.S.

Both normally get the applicant 6 months entry. Mind you, I last used a visa to enter Canada way back in 1991
