NVC asks for same documents that I sent 3 times!!

Hi all,

In the summer of 2006 I have applied for Permanent Residency for my wife who lives overseas. My I-130 case was approved in July 2007. I expected that my wife will receive her visa soon afterwards. However, since October 2007 I received multiple requests for the same documentation.

The first time they requested: Our marriage certificate, her divorce paper, and her photos. I sent them and I called the NVC office and I was informed that they received them successfully. And I was also told that she should receive paperwork through the US Embassy in Tunisia within 2 weeks.

However, one month after that, I received a new letter requesting the SAME documents so I sent them again.

Recently, for the THIRD time, I received another letter from the National Visa Center requesting the same documents AGAIN!

I am wondering why I am being asked for the same documents again!
What is my case status and how can I check it on the NVC website?
What's the best way to follow up with them to move it to the consulate, as a friend's lawyer suggested?

Thank you all in advance.

Infopass

Infopass - go to your local DO explain and show them the letters from NVC that request the same thing and you have complied with their request.

Non-English documents, translated with originals

Yes, her divorce papers are not in english but I sent the translation AND the originals.

MoeCurly, what is a DO? A friend of mine went to the local INS office to do his fingerprinting. Should I go ask them? Maybe they'll direct me somewhere.

Thanks again.
