Parents with GC

Hello,

Assuming that I am a USC and my parents are GC holders , Can I get ...

(1) Social Security for my parents with GC status

(2) Medicare for my parents with GC status

I am also assuming that once my parents are USCs then they are definately eligible for both.

Unless they are legally incompetent, you cannot. They might.

Nobody can receive social security or Medicare unless they have paid enough tax money into the system.

Now there are welfare programs around to help people with limited income and assets (SSI, Medicaid and so on). However, citizenship is almost always a requirement.

Note that a few states like New York do give aid to legal immigrants who do not qualify for federal aid.
