I-130 beneficiary's change of marital status

Hi Guys

My mother has filled immigration petition on my behalf in nov 2002,cuurently my preference category is family first...i have plans of getting married, what kind of forms my mother need to fill with USCIS for change of my marital status. Also please confirm that this will not result in filling of new petition and priority date will be kept same i.e. Nov 2002 but just my preference category will be changed . your help is really appreciated.

Is your mom an US Citizen or a Green Card holder? are you over 21?

I'm going to take a guess that Mom is a USC, otherwise it'd either be F2A or F2B. The good news is that it is possible, assuming the petitioner is a USC, for you to get married and still retain your priority date while changing to F3 category.

OTOH, if Mom is a LPR, you could not get married without voiding the petition.

my mom in US citizen ..and i am over 21 going to get married and to adjust status what kind of form my mother has to fill out to change of my marital status and add my souse name in petition?

mom would submit a copy of her naturalization certificate, a cover letter, a copy of your marriage certificate. I am not sure but she may need an updated I-130 as well.
