Is there a way to request refund for fees that were not required (I765 and I131)

Hello:

I recently filed my case at the USCIS Chicago Lockbox office. The petition is on behalf of my USC wife, and we submitted I130, I485, as well as I765, I1131.

I sent checks for all four of them, although I have now discovered that as of July 30th, USCIS does not require fees for I131 and I765 if I485 has been filed or is being filed.

Is there a way for me to request a refund on these as these were fees not required by USCIS but I paid anyway. Also, is anybody aware of a USCIS (especially chicago) number where I could inquire about any such procedure? I called the main USCIS number but got deadlocked in the automated system.

Thanks.

Have the checks been cashed?

If not, what refund are you going to get?...

Just stop payment on the I-131 and I-765 checks and don't sweat it, USCIS will not cash them and if they did, it would be improper of them to try so, and if they did try and the payment was stopped... then what? they would ask you to pay a small fine, plus the fee again? but they can't because those forms do not require a fee.

Stop payment for those two checks.

if you paid $1,010 for I-485, then they will probably return the checks for I-131 and I-765. If you filed your I-485 prior to July 30, then you should have included fees for the other forms as well.

Thanks all.

I did pay 1010 for the I485. Hopefully they'll return the checks. I do not want to 'stop payment' on these checks as it may cause confusion in the unexpected scenario where they do try to cache the checks and halt my case because of bounced checks.
