Naturalization-Becoming a citizen

I know it is way too early to ask question on naturalizaion since I just sent out my GC application, however, I am feeling very bad after my husband got removed from current position because of marriage to me (a foreign national). He told me I could apply for citizenship after marrying him and lived together for three years. So I am wondering when does that three year begins, after I get my conditional GC or my permnent GC (happened 2 years after getting a conditional one?)? I am thinking that it is the least I can do for him to bring him back to the job he likes. I do not know how long that will take...5 years...

he was fired because he married a non us citizen? What kind of job is that?

Anyways, the clock for citizenship starts when your GC is approved. Regardless it is conditional or not.
