Machine readable passport required if I have a GC?
My GC was just approved, and I'm planning to go back home on vacation later this year. My passport is not machine readable, but that's not required if you have a visa in the passport. Now that I will use my GC instead of a visa for reentry I'm not sure if I need to upgrade to a machine readable passport or not. Does anyone know?
I'd hate to get stuck in immigration, but getting a new passport is a big hassle and not cheap.

As far as I know, machine readable requirement is only for VWP.

The GC itself is machine readable. So no need for a machine readable passport. US visas in the passport are also machine readable.

Thanks! So I won't have to go through the trouble of getting a new passport any time soon.
