They are more interested in BOTH of your and your wife names to appear in the bank statements than in the amount of money in them.

But I would say that you need to have at least $ 2,000,000.00

That does not matter as much as showing that you too have had a joint account for ages.. A bank account is not enough by itself. HAve other things like joint insurance (cars/health/life etc) and other financials possible.

If I understand correctly the OP is going through a consullar process rather than AOS.
If you are a sponsor, you are supposed to make 125% of poverty guideline. They will be more interested in your job - how much you are making. They might ask for a letter from your employer and your paystubs to verify that.
I am not sure how much money it is reasonable in your account, smth like 1 month expenses or smth.

the amount does not matter, i guess, just make sure you have the staement ready showing that in did you guys open the account and have been using the account. U might have had a million buck and emergency came up and bills and stuff and you are now left with 1000.00 dolars, thats should not be a problem. And yes utillity bills, insurance rent etc,.. with both of your names on the accounts.

ops.. that is going to be tough my friend...
b ut in that case then all they would want to see is that you meet the requirement above the 125% poverty guideline, based on household size....
check this out..."http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html"
match your household size and dependends and match them with that number... that is how much you should have in your fedral incometax,, for the bank account just have smething reasonable.. i would say like "5 to 10 thousand dollars. .... just so they know that you will be able to take care of her when she arives. I am not sure ther is a law on how much you should have in your account at the time of inteview if she is aroad.
