Errr... getting a greencard through marriage with an US Citizen falls under 2 cases.
If by the time the application has been approved you HAVE been married more than 2 years, then you get a 10 years unconditional green card. If by the time the application is approved you have NOT been married more than 2 years, then you get a 2 year conditional green card, 90 days before those 2 years pass you file a form (i-751) to remove the conditions on that card and receive a 10 year unconditional green card. The first process nowadays takes around: 4-6 months from filing to receiving the card. (If the FBI namecheck clears). The second process nowadays takes around: 4-6 months from filing to receiving the conditional card, 21 months living as a conditional resident and filing i-751, another 4-6 months before you receive the unconditional 10 year card. (If the FBI namecheck clears).

Preat I have wondered about this one too.. I was married in Jan 07, and became a conditional resident in July 07. When should i apply to remove the conditions? Is not in Oct 08? 3 months before our two year anniversary?

More like April, 09 - 3 months before your 2 year anniversary of getting green card.

90 days, not three months. People have had their N-400s and I-751s returned on occasions when they miscalculated.

When Should I File the Form I-751?
1. Filing jointly. If you are filing this petition jointly with your spouse, you must file it during the 90 days immediately before the second anniversary of the date you were accorded conditional resident status. This is the date your conditional residence expires. Effect of not filing. 3. If this petition is not filed, you will automatically lose your permanent resident status as of the second anniversary of the date on which you were granted conditional status. You will then become removable from the United States. If your failure to file was through no fault of your own,you may file your petition late with a written explanation and request that USCIS excuse the late filing. Failure to file before the expiration date may be excused if you demonstrate when you submit the application that the delay was due to extraordinary circumstances beyond your control and that the length of the delay was reasonable.
