Travelling back to US on GC after expiration of I-131

My I-131 is expiring in June. I am goingto US in April and will apply for new REP.

However if I need to travel again to uS on business in July before I receive the new REP (which last time took almost 4 months), is it safe to travel just on the GC? (my current REP would have expired by then anyways). I would be returning within 6 months.

Over last 2 years, I have made 4 US trips each within 6 months but these have been on th current REP.

Also, I have not yet filed my 2005 taxes (I don't we anything, infat am due a big refund)....does this create any problems in future...any idea if I can still file 2005 taxes along w/2006 taxes or separately...any help will be much appreciated.

I would be returning within 6 months.

if you have been absent for less than 1 year, you don't need a reentry permit.

You have to file your taxes. April 17 is the deadline for 2006.

-------------------- you can use GC. REP may take 3-4 months for approval

Unless you file for an extension to file. You are allowed two extension. I believe if you file for two extensions, the filing deadline becomes October 2007 for 2006 taxes.
