Re Entry Permit and file taxes

Hi

I have been out of the United States for almost one year...Had health complications that I can show as a proof to the Immigration Officer when traveling back
I wont be exceeding one year...11 months in total
Planing to leave the country one more time and might take another year
I have been advised to file for a re entry permit before leaving...

Sinve did not work in the states all this time should I file for my taxes anyways to not jeopardize my re entry permit
And if so anyone can help me in filing the papers knowing that I am married and have a 2 years old boy
all of us are green card holders and were out of country

Thanks

You have to file the tax returns no matter what. It doesn't matter you did not work in US. The law requires it as long as you had any income over certain minimum amount. Depending on tax treaties of your country with US, you may or may not owe IRS some hefty tax and late payment fine. It is quite a serious matter you are neglecting.

You have to file separate reentry permits for your family. I don't think one permit covers whole family. They all have to be in US to be able to file.
