A question about tax return doc. and some info for Affidavit

First info for people not to do same mistakes:
- with Affidavit of Support for me, my wife just included latest paystubs, and got RFI (Request for Initial Evidence)- PAYSTUBS ARE NOT ENOUGH - for evidence of employment you need a letter from each employer on business stationery, showing beginning date of employment, type of work performed, number of hours worked per week, and salery or wages paid. If you are self employed, submit a recent dated letter on business letterhead or business licence.
- for taxes we just sent copies of papers that my wife sent to IRS last year, without W-2s (which we couldn't find) - i know.. we were hoping it would work bringing them to the interview... didn't... got them now by calling IRS (800) 829-1040. On RFI it also says we need income tax returns for the most recent tax year or certified IRS copies.
Now THE QUESTION: since my wife hasn't filed taxes for 2006 yet, can the most recent tax year be considered 2005? If not we're kinda in trouble since we have to send all these papers back within 87 days and IRS takes some time to process it if we send it now...

Thank you for any advice!!!
Robi

yes, you need 2006 tax returns...

....no excuses.

Do you file online or by snail mail ? Once you are done filling up the forms...just send the same copy(1040) to the USCIS(with all 1099's and W2's)? You don't need to wait for IRS to accept (online is quicker...u know within hours) b4 u file I864.
