Going Outside US to study as an PR
Hi guys first of all i want to thank you guys for your time going through my thread.
Yea so this is my problem. I just got my PR and im still residing in my country of citizenship. my family is planning to migrate to US. However, I feel "stuck" because, im my country, i've got into a university that is very good in my opinion, and i tried to apply to Universities in the US of the same standard, but i didnt get accepted. I feel that it is a waste to abandon my seat in my university, and go for just any U in the US. So is it possible for me to apply for an exit permit or are there any other ways to go around this problem. My course is a 4 years course by the way. and my parents and sister are going to US. I'll be the only 1 staying back. Thanks again. |

couple of questions
A few things to be clarified:
1)How old are you and how old will you be when you graduate? 2)On what basis is your family getting a greencard (i.e. employment based, diversity lottery, etc.) 3)What country are you in and which university did you get into and what field of study? Though you may be getting into a good school in your country, it might not have the same cachet in the United States if it is your ultimate goal to settle in the U.S. The difference between most universities real end up being more about reputation than actual differences in the curriculum.

You will need to get a re-entry permit to protect your GC while you complete your studies. A re-entry permit is valid for two years and you can apply for another one after the end of the two years. The only catch is that you have to physically be in the U.S. to apply for a reentry permit
