AHH! Moving during process..HELP!

Hi guys,

I am just soo disapointed, infact now im stressed out. My step-Father has to move now cause his landlord (appartments) has raised the rent and well he can't afford it so now he has to move in to his Brother's house until things settle down and he finds a place to live.

I don't know what to do, Should I tell USCIS that I moved? or should I just got to the post office and ask them to redirect mail that goes to my current address to the one that were moving to?

I have a strong feeling that this will delay my case even more, I honestly don't know what to do..

ps we have to move out by Saturday....

re

best thing to do is inform USCIS about ur change of address.. it should not delay ur processing but if u move and don't tell USCIS about the change ur mail from them may get lost which ive seen many ppl happen to and have serious problems and longer delays

remember USCIS has a record of loosin paper work...

gd luck

You need to file a AR-11. USCIS mail often is marked so that the USPS will not forward or hold it for some reason, meaning that if you ask for mail forwarding the result may be important USCIS documents being "returned to sender".

I will have to move while my application is pending, too. I was reading about that the other day.

Apparently, if you change your address on-line, it will take care of everything, including your pending applications.

If you haven't seen it already, this might be an answer to your question: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/usc...0045f3d6a1RCRD .

"With the exception noted above, all non-U.S. citizens who move within the United States and its territories must submit a Form AR-11 within 10 days after completing the change of address. You can do that here on our website with the Electronic Change of Address tool. If you choose to use this online tool, you can complete an electronic Form AR-11 and notify USCIS to update your address on most pending cases.

If you choose not to complete an electronic Form AR-11, you will be required to obtain a paper Form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on the form. This will delay the process of notifying USCIS significantly. Not filing an electronic AR-11 and choosing to mail in a paper AR-11 will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS."

Hope that helps!

Good luck!

Ahh..thanks!

Yeah I just changed the Address on my applications through USCIS.gov and I am going to mail the AR-11 today as well.

Thanks for the Website, yeah i never knew you could that and its soo much easier, I want to warn people that after you fill out the Electronic AR-11 and get your Confination number, look at the bottom in small print in which it will ask if you if you case is still pending cause there is another form you gotta fill out as well, you gotta do it both I-485 and I-130 cause I guess USCIS Number told me alot of people have not noticed it and thats what delays the case.

thanks guys .

not necessarily. They didn't have that option available online until they changed the USCIS website. It is more helpful: however, it is good to also follow-up on change because sometimes things don't get taken care of immediately. Wait awhile and then see if the address has been documented. They usually send a notice to you confirming any change. That is when I know for sure it is done. Best wishes.

Don't forget. The petitioner files change of address too, to the service center with jurisdiction over current place of residence: Form I-865http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-865.pdf

OH NO! I never knew that and well I already moved :|

But I have a queston tho, I already did a AR-11 and Electronicly Change of Address for me, I called 1-800 USCIS Number and told them that im moving on Saturday and that I am going to be moving into my new place on March 24th, I then asked if I can use my Best Friend's address so my mail can be sent there cause ive been having mail problems plus I dont want to be changing the address twice cause it can come up with some confusion, the lady told me its fine as long as its an American Valid Address.

So heres my queston tho, for the I-865, I am going to put down my Step-Father's Address to which the place he will be moving at on March 24th, would USCIS care if him and I have two different Addresses (Mine different then his) and would the letters go to me or to him? (then again the I-485 does show up as my name on the envelop and for the I-130 for my Step-Father's name).

Also should I wait til my Step-father moves on the 24th and then file the I-865 cause right now he doesn't quite have an address (due to waiting for his place to be avaialble on the 24th, all old mail forward to his brother's house).

As per my understanding your step father is your petitioner. Fill in I-865 after he moves to the new address. I-865 is filed in connection with _130 and I-864 the affidavit he signs to support you. I don't see why you get so confused with this whole matter. true there's mess, but not all the time. The majority of people don't have problems with change of address. We changed address just a month before the interview. The immigration officer had a whole folder with Change of address at the time of the interview.
Anybody comes with a problem to this forum (including me). THE BEST EVER ON THE WEB,btw, That doesn't speak for all cases though. Don't stress that much man. Do it as per instructions.
