Ten year GC and divorce

My friend has been married to a USC for 5 years. They got married with the best intentions but have drifted apart and he is very unhappy. He came over to the US five years ago through marriage to his wife. I believe he has a ten year Green Card but has not yet applied for Citizenship.

1. Can he leave his wife or will this jeopardize his GC?
2. If he leaves his wife will this hurt his chance of obtaining Citizenship?
3. Are there any limitations to his traveling outside the US with a ten year GC?

He doesn't want to risk his status since he can't return to Cuba and he wouldn't have anywhere to go.

Any help in clearing up his risks would be appreciated.

Hi:

No, there should not be any problems. He is free to travel also. Note that he will only be able to apply for citizenship 5 years after he became a PR, since the application will no longer be supported by marriage to a USC.
