explain I-131
My H1B status expires in Jan and currently I-130, etc is being filed. I am planning on filing an I-131 in a month or so because I would like to be able to go back home to Canada for 1 week to visit family. Do I apply for the re-entry permit of advanced parole? Just confused on lingo!

Advance parole IF you have already filed I485.

Catjupp,
Advanced Parole is the document you need. My K-1 based AOS lasted 11 months. During that period I successfuly applied for and received two APs from the Boston DO. Made 6-7 trips to Canada using that. Was sent to secondary only on the first iteration of both APs. Otherwise was just waved back in. Good luck!!! Quote:
